Today, we departed Beni Mellal, Morocco Airfield (GMMD), flying southeast across the mountains of the Zaida National Park. Then before us, was the great Sahara Desert. We continued on, over the Saharan Desert, into Algeria. We landed at an airfield in the small village of Timimoun, Algeria(DAUT), a 389 mile trip. The runway at Timimoun was extremely long, considering the size of the village.
Real world weather conditions were encountered. Weather partly sunny, with some clouds. A check of the actual weather conditions was made and MSFX was very accurate. The terrain in this region of course was flat desert, but there is a mountain range in central Algeria, which we will check out on the next flight. Photos are forthcoming.
