Most Impressive Aircraft

Post by Lurch » Sun Mar 19, 2017 10:25 pm

Just a quik post after visiting the Naval Air Museum. I'm pretty sure not many people have ever heard of this craft, but it has the most powerful single seat prop engine ever built. Look at the ridiculous load out.

The engine is so powerfull they had to mount it slightly off center to the right to account for the massive torque.
It was on display at the museum but didn't have a full load so I did a search on it.

This is the Martin AM-1 Mauler. Supposedly hauled a record 10,000lb bomb load.

Nice Lurch.
This is the engine that powered it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratt_%26 ... Wasp_Major
