Laser Lurch and Vball flew carrier ops and land based attacks on Florida Island and Gavutu Island. A variety of aircraft were flown, including F4-UC Corsairs, SBD5's and A-20 Havocs. The last mission of the night resulted in Laser losing Elevator and ailerons, in an A-20, with Lurch in the Top Turret. Laser flew the A-20 al the way back to Henderson Field, using nothing but Split Throttles and Flaps. He then managed a perfect emergency landing. A thing of Beauty. And the Flaps jammed on Final.
